I am interested in importing a Jeep Cherokee from the UK, better specs than Irish models, however when I checked how much the VRT was going to be, it gave the value of the Jeep to be around 25K and the VRT was around 8K. In fact the value of the Jeep over here is somewhere in the region of 15-16K. Is there anything I can do to avoid paying such high VRT
I was just checking the VRT on the Cherokee and on a 2005 Petrol its EUR3999, but the diesel version comes out at EUR9600. There is obviously a mistake there as the new price for these is pretty much the same. Are they receptive to this kind of thing being pointed out and fixing the rate.
If not I'm definitely buying the petrol version
