Hi
Im looking at a camper in the north at the moment. It's 3500Kg and its got 64000 miles on it so it's over thoes limit for the 50 euro vrt. Some questions still on does it meet the internal hight? also are there other limits?
If I bought it I would be leaving Ireland in probably three weeks later and spending the next two years in Europe with it. If it doesn't meet the rules for importing for 50euro do I have to import it seeing as I will be leaving the country with it and possibly not coming back with it?
If I am not importing it does that rule out getting it taxed and insured down here?
Sorry for the simple questions this is all new to me and I don't want to make an expensive mistake.
thanks |

Why don't you just leave it in the north until you are heading off and you will have no headache regarding registering in republic.
Regarding insurance, you will need to contact insurance company to discuss this with them given you will be away for so long |

Thanks for that, that shouldn't be a problem. The insurance people seam fine with it two.
I know this is a site specifically for VRT but I am wondering does anyone know the answer for another question. In this circumstance could I with a northern registered camper thats not imported pay the road tax for it in Ireland or would that need to be done in the UK?
thanks |

The short answer is no.
If the campervan is registered in the UK and not being used on Irish roads, then paying road tax in Ireland is not possible. |
