Hi,

I am living and working in the UK for nearly a year now and will be moving back to Ireland next year 2010. I want to buy a car here next year before I move back to Ireland. I know that you have to own the car for 6 months in the UK to not have to pay the VRT when coming to Ireland. What if I move to Ireland before the six months is up and finish the time in Ireland as a visitor i.e still having my address in the UK? If I insure and tax the car in the UK, will this be ok for the remaining time in Ireland. Does the insurane cover accidents in Ireland? When the six months is up I would then go to a VRO and change over the plates, and I persume one has to get new insurance and tax straight away, or how does it work. Question

Thanks.
