Hi,
Can someone please clarify for me.
Example 1
I am looking at a 2010 swb vw transporter panel van in the north, first reg 4-7-2010 with 2000 miles on clock
I am a vat reg sole trader.
Q1.Is the vrt €50?
Q2.How is the vat calculated?(on the price of what i payed in the north or the omsp)
Q3.Do i pay the vat on registration in the south and then claim it back later?
Example 2
If i was to buy a NEW van in the north does the same rules apply?
All answers appreciated. |

1. yes VRT should be €50
2. VAT is based on invoice price plus shipping costs (shipping may be 0 if purchased in north), VAT should only be payable if you buy the van ex-VAT in the north
3. I am not a VAT expert but it should work the same as VAT on any other van.
For a new Van you have to pay VAT so it is essential you buy the van ex-VAT in the north
