I am soooo hoping that someone will be able to give us some information- I have been calling every government office I can think of for the past few weeks and no one seems to be able to answer my questions - very frustrating!! If there is any way you know the information we need I'd be so grateful if you would let us know.

My husband and I live in Donegal, Ireland - we are moving to Bulgaria in April and so plan to purchase a left hand vehicle to drive through Europe (for appeox 2 weeks) and then arrive in Bulgaria, once we arrive in Bulgaria we will be registering the vehicle there. So here is our problem, most of the left hand jeeps that we have been able to find are located in the UK/Northern Ireland, they have either foreign plates (eg Spanish)/UK ,some have MOT/Tax, some don't. So what we cant find out is

1. if we purchase say a car with spanish plates, do we need to re-register this to irish plates before we leave, even though the car will literally only be being driven to our home in Donegal to pack up and then a few weeks later after travelling through Europe it will be registered in Bulgaria?

2. if we can keep whatever plates are on the car for our journey then what do we do about MOT/Tax? If the car comes with MOT/TAX is this sufficient, even though we would technically be Irish residents until our 2 week journey is complete and we have arrived in Bulgaria and taken up residence there?

I really would appreciate if you could let me know any information on this that would help, thank you so much,
