Hi,

I am interested in importing a vauxhall antara and just have a few queries.

First, the wheelbase is 2707mm so that is fine for cat c, but the weight is 2505kg, 14kg short of the cat c requirement, is it possible to add the weight somewhere to get it into the €50 bracket, or do they check for that kind of thing?

Also, would it need to be modified into a commercial before importing, or can it be done when I bring it over? Would be difficult to get it all done here and get it registered within the 24 hours. Someone told me it had to be registered as commercial in the UK for 6 months before it would be eligable here, not sure if that is correct?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks

please read this post for info on classification: http://vrt.ie/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=518

The vehicle spec used will be manufacturer spec, hence I don't think it will be possible to add weight.

Regarding commercial in the UK, it does not have to be commercial in the UK for 6 months.

You should be fine bringing it over and then converting it.... the key thing would be not to drive it around as a passenger for a few weeks and then go about converting it. If you bring it over, convert it straight away and then register it as soon as possible, it should be fine, revenue should know you are genuine and not trying to avoid them.

Re:cost I don't know to be honest but I'm sure there are a few companies around doing it
