Modification of vehicles for use by Disabled Drivers/Passengers

From 29 April 2012 all new vehicles that are modified for use by a Disabled Driver/Passenger may require Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) from the NSAI.

Revenue will require the correct documentation at registration and vehicles should not be presented for registration until the correct documentation (An IVA- or a letter of confirmation from the NSAI regarding the relevant adaptations to the vehicle) - is available.

Used vehicles registered in another State and subsequently modified for the use by a Disabled Driver/Passenger require a completed pdfDeclaration of Conversion by Vehicle Owner (PDF, 70KB) to be presented along with the current registration document of the vehicle at the time the vehicle is presented for registration.
